I Generally divide selenium into 3 types.

a) Selenium IDE

b) Selenium RC

c) Selenium Web Driver


IDE Stands for Integrated Development Environment.

RC   Stands for Remote Control Server.


In all the above tools,present market is mostly around Selenium Web Driver.
